CASA Youth Advocates Announces New Board Chair David Cramer

Media, PA, March 1, 2018 – CASA Youth Advocates, a nonprofit that recruits, trains and supports volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Delaware and Chester counties, announces the appointment of their new board chair David Cramer. Cramer is a Lower Merion resident and succeeds Anthony Cavaliere of Springfield, PA.

Cramer joined the board in fall of 2015 and has since been an integral part of CASA. A consultant for Gordon Bros., his goals as chairperson are to continue to build donor relations, and to recruit and retain volunteers, recognizing they are the lifeblood of the organization.

Cramer first became interested in the organization when his wife, Christine Wiita, began volunteering in 2008. She was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2015. Along with his wife’s involvement, his daughter volunteers at CASA events. Of CASA’s mission, Cramer says, “It’s everything if you can help get a child on a path to success.”

Executive Director Leigh Anne McKelvey praises Cramer for his dedication to CASA, stating, “We wouldn’t be where we are today without him – and there’s so much more to come. I’m excited to work with him as we both enter new roles, ready to face new challenges.”

Outgoing chairperson Cavaliere, CASA board member since summer of 2007 and Vice President of Republic Bank’s Media branch will remain on the board. Over the years, Cavaliere has come to understand the importance of serving others and feels fulfilled when he sees CASA’s direct impact in a child’s life. Cavaliere gives Cramer praise, saying, “I am confident in the board’s decision to appoint David to this position. His capabilities with CASA are endless and I’m excited to see where he takes this great organization.”

Of Cavaliere’s leadership, McKelvey comments, “We thank Tony for his outstanding leadership during the past eight years and we are thrilled that he will remain on our board.”

Since 1992, CASA Youth Advocates has worked to ensure each child in Delaware County’s child welfare system a safe, permanent, and nurturing home. CASA recruits and trains volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates to advise the courts on the best interests of an abused or neglected child, with support and guidance from CASA’s professional staff of social workers and attorneys. In 2015 CASA expanded services to Chester County children.
