Charges Filed After Shots Fired At Off-Duty Cop In Roxborough

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — Authorities have charged a man in connection with a shooting in Roxborough that occurred last week.

Nakeem Wilson, 18, of Philadelphia, is charged with aggravated assault, firearm crimes, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and related crimes.

Authorities said Wilson fired at an off-duty Philadelphia Police officer at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8 on the 7600 block of Ridge Avenue in Roxborough.

According to Action News, the officer was in uniform but in a private vehicle when he saw a scooter driving erratically on Ridge.

The officer rolled down his window to show he was a police officer, and the officer and driver exchanged words before authorities said the scooter driver shot at the officer's vehicle.

Fox 29 reports the officer fired back and the scooter driver, who fell off and fled the area.

The officer was treated for a bullet graze, and it's unclear if the suspect, later identified as Wilson, was hurt.

Wilson is being held on 10 percent of $2 million bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 28, court records show.
