Coyote Spotted Near Township Border: Lower Merion Police

Keep your cats and dogs inside or safe in kennels to avoid run ins with the animal.

A coyote has been spotted in Narberth Borough near the border of Lower Merion Township, according to Lower Merion Police.

The coyotes was spotted Friday in the back yard of a residence and was last seen heading through the property toward North Wynnewood Avenue, police said.

Police are advising the public to keep pets safe by keeping cats inside and dogs under control during day as well as using kennels or keeping them inside during the night.

Coyotes, as medium-sized and opportunistic eaters, will eat "what food is naturally available, including small animals, birds, insects and fruits, as well as garbage, pet food, birdseed and compost," police said.

"Coyotes are typically shy and elusive, however if observed, avoid the animal and notify the Lower Merion Police Department at (610) 649-1000 or 911," police said.
