Driver Accused Of Hitting Firefighters While DUI Has Case Delayed

Court proceedings for Jacquelyn Walker, who is accused of hitting three Lower Merion firefighters and killing one, have been pushed back.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The case against a New Jersey woman accused of hitting three Lower Merion firefighters, killing one, while under the influence is being delayed.

Jacquelyn Walker, 63, of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, is facing vehicular homicide, DUI, involuntary manslaughter, and other crimes in connection with the July 24 crash on Interstate 76 in Lower Merion.

However, court records show her case is being pushed back.

Walker's preliminary hearing was initially scheduled for Aug. 5.

It was then continued to Aug. 24.

But now her hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14, court records show.

She's being held in the Montgomery County Prison on $500,000 bail.

The incident led to the death of Belmont Hills Fire Company firefighter Thomas Royds, who was responding to a crash on the highway.

Two other firefighters, Alex Fischer and Sam Shaffer, were hurt in the incident and have since been released from medical care. See here to contribute to their recovery fund.
