The first benefit tournament was held to raise funds for the medial costs of Katie Samson, a Radnor High School lacrosse player who incurred a spinal injury in an accident 12 years ago. Since then, the Festival has raised more than $1 million for spinal injury research. Katie, currently an Ardmore resident, is now an assistant coach for her former team at Radnor.
