Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia’s 200th Home Recipient Family Accepts Santander Bank’s $100k Donation to the Organization
Local family accepts donation on behalf of Habitat for Humanity on field at the Eagles Game on December 22

PHILADELPHIA, December 23, 2016 – During the pre-game festivities at Thursday night’s Philadelphia Eagles home game, Santander Bank awarded a $100,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity, the bank’s 2016 holiday charitable partner. The Martinez-Wright family of North Philadelphia joined the on-field celebration to accept the check on behalf of Habitat for Humanity. The Martinez-Wrights are the owners of Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia’s milestone 200th home, dedicated to the family on Saturday, December 17, just in time for the holidays.
As the Official Bank of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Presenting Partner of Thursday’s game, Santander Bank was pleased to host the Martinez-Wrights at the Eagles game. Avery and Marcus, the Martinez-Wrights’ teenaged children, were surprised with the opportunity to attend the game and stand on the field during the Habitat check presentation at Saturday’s home dedication celebration. Santander’s Regional Director of Commercial Banking Jim Wujcik spoke at the ceremony and praised Habitat’s generosity and the impact it has had in its 30 years in the Philadelphia area. In 2016 alone, Habitat built and sold 12 homes to Philadelphia families in need of affordable housing.
Karen Martinez’s journey with Habitat began when she was turned down for traditional mortgages. Determined to make homeownership a reality for her family, she partnered with Habitat and worked alongside neighbors and volunteers to build and buy the new townhouse on the 2000 block of N. 16th Street in Philadelphia.
