Honor Late Lower Merion Firefighters By Turning Your Lights Red

Residents, businesses, and more are invited to turn their lights red in honor of late firefighters Sean DeMuynck and Thomas Royds.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — After losing two members of the firefighting community in just one month's time, Lower Merion and surrounding communities are planning to light up red in honor of them and other fallen firefighters and their families.

From Sept. 25 to Oct. 3, landmarks, homes, fire service organizations, and businesses in the region will light up red as part of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation's Light the Night week.

Sean W. DeMuynck, 35, died on July 5 after suffering injuries while battling a structure fire on July 4.

Thomas Royds, 48, died on July 24 after being struck by an alleged drunk driver while responding to a crash on Interstate 76.

Filters for lights to turn them red can be purchased online here from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation's partner Rosco.

Red lightbulbs can also be purchased on Amazon here. Those purchases through the foundation's Amazon Associates program will benefit the programs of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to honor America’s fallen heroes, assist their families, and prevent firefighter deaths and injuries.
