Independence Day DUI Crackdown In Lower Merion Township

Police are targeting DUI drivers over Fourth of July weekend to make sure all enjoy the holiday in a safe and healthy manner.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Independence Day is nearly here and that means a lot of people will be out enjoying adult libations. With that in mind, Lower Merion Police are cracking down on DUI over the holiday weekend to ensure a safe and fun holiday for all.

Police will be conducting impaired driving roving patrols throughout the township from Thursday, July 4 to Monday, July 8.

This initiative is in partnership with a national impaired driving crackdown featuring intensified, highly visible enforcement activities using the tagline "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."

The focus will be on finding motorists who are operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.

Roving patrol details are funded by a PennDOT grant and are one of many tools used to increase public safety through increased awareness created by high profile enforcement.
