LMPD Swears In New Officers, Commends Platoon Members

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Lower Merion Police had a busy day Thursday, as new members were sworn in to the department and other were commended for their actions.

The department welcomed new recruits Valentina Joukhovitski, Melissa Hibbert, Alexander McChord, Juliane Holz, Matthew Callahan, and Ryan Yenchick Thursday.

The six were presented with their badges during the ceremony.

Additionally, members of Platoon 2 were honored with commendations for their work to stop an armed man who threatened a senior living facility.

According to police, a former employee of the facility was looking for a worker he felt had wronged him.

"He recorded his hunt for her on his phone, but Platoon 2 secured the facility and arrested him before anyone was harmed," police said. "Undoubtedly, lives were saved that day."

Members of the platoon who were honored are Officer Bill Keith (Bravery), Officer Vincenzo Tucciarone (Bravery), Officer Joe Smith (Merit).

Unit Commendations also went to Sergeant Justin Judge, Sergeant Ian Thornton, Officer Darren Brow, Officer Charles Farrell, and Officer Alexander Muller.
