Lower Merion Burglary Trend Continues After 2 Tuesday Incidents

Two homes in the township were targeted by burglars Tuesday, bringing the total number of reported break-in cases since early July to 17.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – Two more Lower Merion Township homes were targeted by burglars continuing a trouble trend of persisting break-ins or break-in attempts in the township.

Police said a home on Villanova and a home in Wynnewood were targeted by burglars Tuesday, with only one of the attempts being successful.

Police said at about 11:40 a.m. they were called to a home on the 1600 block of Brookhaven Road in Wynnewood for a residential burglar alarm.

Luckily, police said the break-in attempt was unsuccessful.

Police also reported a home on the 1600 block of Mt. Pleasant Road in Villanova was broken into during the afternoon Tuesday.

The home was hit between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and the burglars got inside through a basement window, police said.

After getting inside, the criminals took jewelry, police said.

These two most recent incidents mark the 16th and 17th police reported home break-in cases in the township since July 8.
