Lower Merion Conservancy Highlights 2015 Accomplishments
The Ardmore-based conservation group had a banner year in 2015.

LOWER MERION, PA - The Lower Merion Conservancy works to protect and restore the environment along the Main Line.
2015 was a banner year for the conservancy, as they invested $80k in watershed research and worked with more than 3,000 children in environmental education activities:
14 new citizen scientists, trained by the Conservancy, became part of the StreamWatch Program. The data collected from Mill Creek and the East Branch of Indian Creek has been used to inform Lower Merion Township, Narberth Borough and regional partners about water quality and create baseline data to compare after restoration or storm events.

We had a number of historic preservation successes during the past year. The William Penn Inn was saved from demolition as a result of its placement on our Watchlist, which helped secure a rescue buyer.
Partnering with the Ardwood Civic Association, the Conservancy made significant progress towards the creation of a residential historic district in Ardmore.

The Conservancy took a hard look at the Township’s Comprehensive Plan and advocated for recommendations that would improve quality of life and ensure strong preservation practices. We congratulated the Township on the Plan’s emphasis on neighborhood and open space preservation and its commitment to solving the number one environmental and public health problem in the Township: stormwater runoff.
