Lower Merion Police Being Honored By National Liberty Museum

Lower Merion Police Officer Josephine Murray and the department as a whole have been name Award of Valor honorees.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion Township Police Department and one of its officers have been named honorees in the National Liberty Museum's 14th annual Awards of Valor.

Officer Josephine Murray will be honored as an individual for Meritorious Community Service.

The department as a whole will be honored as a team.

Honorees will be recognized at an awards ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 19.

The awards honor active duty police officers, police detectives, K-9 units, firefighters & fire police, EMS & EMT, other emergency responders, and law enforcement personnel from the Greater Philadelphia Region for remarkable acts of heroism and for serving as role models in their communities.

Eight Awards will be presented for Meritorious Community Service (both individual and team honorees); Seven Awards will be presented for Valor (both individual and team honorees).

Honorees' stories will be featured in a museum exhibit and on the museum's web page.
