Murphy worked with Officer Gerard Bellew, and the two conducted a search for a discarded firearm on Murphy's next to last day of service, according to the FOP.

"Officer Bellew is a dedicated professional and his stewardship of K9 partner Murphy reflects that," the FOP said. "During his career he established a reputation for evidence recovery, including firearms used in violent crimes. We hope K9 Murphy enjoys rest and good health."
