LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Details on three months of crime incidents in Lower Merion Township were released recently.

These incidents occurred between Feb. 26, 2022 and Dec. 1, 2021.

Feb. 26, 2022
On Feb. 26, a black male entered the Wine and Spirits, 119 City Ave., Bala Cynwyd, and assaulted a cashier by throwing a bottle of wine at him. The male then brandished a firearm following an argument over the store’s animal policy. The male fled the scene in a black Dodge Charger. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Feb. 25, 2022
On Feb. 25, a robbery occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank, 75 E. City Ave., Bala Cynwyd. In this incident, at 1:11 p.m. a black male wearing a ski mask entered the bank and passed a demand note. The male received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Feb. 25, 2022
On Feb. 25, an attempted residential burglary occurred in the Unit block of W. Athens Ave., Ardmore. In this incident, at approximately 7:36 p.m., the actor(s) attempted to kick in the front door of the apartment. No description of the actor was provided. Feb. 24, 2022
On Feb. 24, an attempted burglary occurred at Eldernet, 9 S. Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr. In this incident, damage was reported to two windows which had not previously been there the day before. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Feb. 23, 2022
On Feb. 23, a commercial burglary occurred at Main Line Cycles, 919 Montgomery Ave., Penn Valley. In this incident, a security alarm activation resulted in the discovery of a burglary. The cylinder to the rear entry/exit door was forcibly removed, and an electric bicycle valued at $5,000 was stolen. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Feb. 21, Lower Merion Officers assisted the Narberth Police Department with an armed carjacking that occurred in the 300 block of Iona Ave. In this incident, two black males stole the victim’s vehicle at gunpoint.

On Feb. 20, a robbery occurred at the Saks Fifth Ave., 333 E. City Ave., Bala Cynwyd. In this incident, two black males stole approximately $9,000 worth of purses and pepper sprayed loss prevention as they were fleeing the store. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Feb. 19, 2022
On Feb. 19, an attempted residential burglary occurred in the 200 block of Haverford Road, Penn Wynne. In this incident, entry was attempted by the actor(s) into the residence by a basement window during the overnight hours. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Feb. 14, a burglary occurred in the 500 block of Barrett Ave., Haverford. In this incident, entry was made by the actor(s) through the front door and cash was taken from the master bedroom. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Feb. 8, 2022
On Feb. 8, a vehicle theft occurred in the 600 block of Winsford Road, Bryn Mawr. In this incident, the victim’s vehicle was stolen between 7:12 p.m. and 7:22 p.m. while running in the driveway. The vehicle was later seen at the Sunoco in Bryn Mawr by officers and then fled at a high rate of speed westbound on Lancaster. Additionally, an attempted theft of a motor vehicle occurred in the 400 block of N. Sydbury Lane, Wynnewood at 6:47 PM. In this incident, a black male approached multiple vehicles in the driveway and attempted the car handles. The investigation into these incidents is continuing.

On Feb. 4, an assault occurred in the Unit block of E. Spring Ave. In this incident, the victim was assaulted by three to four unknown males.

On Feb. 2, a robbery occurred at the PNC Bank (Giant), 70 E. Wynnewood Road, Wynnewood. In this incident, a black male wearing a ski mask approached the bank teller and produced a demand note indicating he had a bomb. The male fled the area with an undetermined amount of cash. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Jan. 30, a burglary and assault occurred in the 100 block of Elm Ave., Ardmore. In this incident, a black male was arrested after audible hallucinations led him to kick in his neighbor’s basement door and assault that neighbor.

Jan. 29, 2022
On Jan. 29, a robbery occurred at the Michael’s Arts and Crafts, 57 City Ave., Bala Cynwyd. In this incident, a black male entered the store and demanded everything in the register, implying he had a weapon. The actor then left the store with an undetermined amount of money, in an unknown direction. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Jan. 27, a burglary occurred in the 600 block of Righters Ferry Road, Bala Cynwyd. In this incident, $2,700 worth of sneakers and a $20,000 necklace was taken from an apartment. There were no signs of forced entry, and the investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Jan. 25, an attempted burglary of the Chili’s Bar and Grill, 175 E City Ave., Bala Cynwyd occurred overnight. In this incident, unknown actor(s) attempted to break out the glass of an exterior door. Additionally, the actor(s) climbed onto the roof, damaged fans and removed several HVAC access panels in an attempt to gain entry. A gas line was also broken on the roof. On Jan. 21, a residential burglary occurred in the 700 block of Conshohocken State Road, Penn Valley. In this incident, entry was gained by the actor(s) through an unlocked rear door sometime over the previous 2 weeks. There was heavy ransacking throughout the house, but no known loss currently. On Jan. 9, a strong-armed robber/carjacking occurred at the 7-Eleven, 1 Conshohocken State Road, Bala Cynwyd. In this incident, the victim was approached by 3 black males while he was inside his vehicle. One of the males threatened to shoot the victim, while another forcibly removed him from his vehicle. The actors then fled in the victim’s vehicle westbound on Conshohocken State Road. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Jan. 2, a residential burglary occurred in the 600 block of Righters Ferry Road. In this incident, cash was taken from the victim’s apartment between Dec. 31, 2021 and this date. No signs of force were observed. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Dec. 31, a homicide occurred in the Unit block of St. Asaphs Road, Bala Cynwyd. In this incident, a black male suffered a gun shot wound to the head. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Dec. 30, a residential burglary occurred in the 600 block of Righters Ferry Road, Bala Cynwyd. In this incident between Dec. 22nd and this date approximately $2,000 in cash was taken from an apartment. There were no signs of forced entry into the apartment. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Dec. 30, a Lyft driver was assaulted in the 100 block of Belmont Ave., Bala Cynwyd. In this incident, a black male assaulted his Lyft driver when the driver refused to continue the fare. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

On Dec. 23, a residential burglary occurred in the Unit block of St. Asaphs Road, Bala Cynwyd. In this incident an apartment was forcibly entered through the front door and approximately $1,000 in cash and $34,000 worth of jewelry was taken. Additionally, earlier in the day, damage was located to the east fire exit door of the building. The investigation into this incident is continuing.
