Lower Merion Police Seeking Substitute School Crossing Guard

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — A substitute school crossing guard is needed in Lower Merion Township and interested, qualified parties are invited to apply now.

Lower Merion Police are looking to bring on a substitute at a rate of $15 per hour with four to 5 hour work days, five days a week during the school year, on an as-needed basis to cover for regularly scheduled guards.

Guards are responsible for providing the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections by observing gaps in the traffic and leading the children across the roadway or intersection.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent; the ability to follow oral and written instructions; the ability to instruct students in the safe crossing of intersections, often under adverse climatic conditions.

Those interested must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, pass a Child Abuse History Clearance, and be able to perform job functions in adverse weather.

Police will hire candidates based on merit, experience, training, education, employee record, testing, and interview.
