Lower Merion Police Launch New Vacant House Security Program

Going to be away from home for more than a day? Lower Merion's Vacant House program to ensure it's safe while you're away.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Going away from home for more than a day could leave your residence vulnerable to criminals looking to take advantage of the vacancy. But now Lower Merion residents have a new tool to keep their vacant homes safe.

Lower Merion Police launched its Vacant House Program this week.

The program is designed to let police know when residents leave their homes for more than 24 hours so police can conduct security inspections at the home.

Residents who are leaving home for more than a day can simply fill out a form online here or call (610) 649-1000 to use the free service.

Once police have the information needed, an officer will be assigned to conduct security inspections around your home while you are away.

Those who come home earlier than the date given to police should call (610) 649-1000 and give Lower Merion Police an update on the vacancy.
