Lower Merion Schools Launch Coronavirus Dashboard; 12 Cases Found

As of Monday, the dashboard shows three students and nine district staffers have tested positive for the coronavirus to date.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion School District has launched a coronavirus dashboard tracking cases throughout the district. Since Sept. 7, a dozen cases have been identified, according to the dashboard.

The dashboard shows the number of students cases by school, as well as the number of staff cases by school.

It is updated weekly and includes confirmed positive cases of coronavirus reported to the district by the Montgomery County Office of Public Health in individuals who attend or work in the district.

As of Monday, there are three student cases: one in Penn Valley Elementary School; one in Cynwyd Elementary School; and one in Welsh Valley Middle School.

Additionally, nine district staffers have tested positive.

Five of the cases are in non-school staff positions, such as administration, transportation, and operations.

Of the remaining four cases: one works at LMSD@Home; one at Welsh Valley; one at Cynwyd; and one at Merion Elementary School.

"Inclusion in the dashboard does not mean that an individual contracted COVID-19 at an LMSD building or event," the district's website says. "LMSD Health Services works cooperatively with MCOPH to provide notification, contact tracing and isolation/quarantine information to affected individuals."

Those who are not considered at risk due to these cases will not hear directly from the district's Health Services or MCOPH.

The district said it will not provide any further information regarding affected individuals to ensure patient privacy.
