Main Line Police Warning Of PECO Scam Calls

Police said someone who was posing as a PECO worker told a victim they had a nearly $1,000 unpaid balance on their PECO bill.

MAIN LINE, PA — Scammers are posing as PECO workers in attempts to bilk hard-earned money from unsuspecting Main Line residents, according to police.

Radnor Township Police said they have been alerted to scam calls in the area where the caller poses as a PECO worker.

A resident got a call from someone claiming to be a PECO worker, who told the resident they had an outstanding balance of nearly $1,000, police said.

Police said the caller suggested the resident can pay the bill in person at a Warminster address, which is a legitimate PECO Service Building.

The caller then said the bill can be paid by obtaining Green Dot cards at CVS and calling him back with the card's numbers, according to police.

Police said a PECO representative would not tell a customer to obtain Green Dot cards to pay a bill and residents should be aware that this is a scam.
