"Lower Merion Township is proud of our efforts to reduce our environmental impact and save taxpayers’ money," Township Manager Ernie McNeely said. "It’s not often we get to announce a program that does both. That’s exactly what we found with Curb My Clutter. With their curbside collection program, residents get a convenient way to reduce their household clutter, taxpayers save disposal fees, and most importantly, clothing and electronics stay out of the waste stream."
Many old electronics have parts that can be returned to the circular economy rather than kept in closets, drawers and basements, the township said.

"While most of these goods are recyclable, the sad fact is that as much as 85 percent end up in a landfill or incinerator," according to the township. "Households may benefit from a convenient way to get rid of all this clutter without having to wait for an electronics event or wrangle it to a drop-off location. Clearly, households may recycle more with a convenient option."
All residents need to do to use the new service is text "PICKUP" to (610) 723-8177 to schedule a collection.
Additionally, residents can earn rewards for their pickups by sending in pictures of what you’ll be recycling.
On your pickup day, simply set your things on out on the porch or garage and Curb My Clutter take care of the rest.
"We are excited to see Lower Merion Township take the lead and point to a solution for a billion-dollar used clothing and electronic waste problem," said Bob Anderson, of Curb My Clutter. "The solution is simple: give people a more convenient curbside choice, and they will recycle. Curb My Clutter is proud to cooperate with Lower Merion Township to return clothing and electronics to their best and highest re-use and help save hard-earned taxpayer dollars for more important community needs than disposal fees."
