Police Collecting For 2 Charitable Holiday Drives In Lower Merion
Lower Merion Police are collecting food items for Montco HHS's Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Preston & Steve Camp Out for Hunger Drive.
LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Lower Merion Township are collecting food for two noble causes this holiday season.
Donations for the Montgomery County Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Preston & Steve Camp Out for Hunger Food Drive are being accepted now through Nov. 18.
Police will evenly divide donated items for both campaigns.

Collection boxes are in the Public Safety Building's lobby and in the entrance lobby of the Township Administration Building.
While food items are being sought, gift card donations are also being accepted.

Gift card donations can be brought into the police station with attention to the Staff and Inspections Unit.
Items sought for the Thanksgiving Food Drive include non-perishable foods such as boxed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, dessert mix, yams, muffin/roll mix, and canned vegetables.
Gift cards can be mailed to the Montgomery County Dept. Of Health & Human Services, Attn: Veronica Hilghman, P.O. Box 311, Norristown PA, 19404.

As for the Preston and Steve Campout For Hunger, online donations can be made here.
Items sought for the campout are:
- Creamy peanut butter (Plastic containers only)
- Canned/shelf-stable meats (Including tuna)
- Shelf stable white milk
- Canned beef stew
- Canned chili
- Breakfast cereal or hot cereal
- Nuts/ trail mix
- Whole wheat pasta
- Brown Rice
- Jelly (Plastic containers only)
- Canned fruits & vegetables (low salt, no high fructose corn syrup)
- Only boxes, cans, plastic containers or non-breakable jars and which do not have to be refrigerated can be collected.
