Dillon Shea’s exemplary work ethic and his loyalty to the GET Cafe in Narberth are just a few reasons why he was a recent GET Cafe Employee of the Month.

“I wasn’t expecting that honor,” said Shea.

While he was The Employee of the Month, his favorite drink, ice coffee, was rechristened the Dillon Drink where customers could buy it at a discount.

The 35-year-old Shea wears all of the GET Cafe hats: He is a barista, a cook, a cashier and a dish washer. Whatever job the supervisors ask him to perform, he will do it without rolling his eyes or complaining.

“I love working here,” said Shea. “This place is like family.” He had other opportunities to work at different places, but he turned them down because for him, the GET Cafe is home.

He feels that way because a large number of GET employees have disabilities. There, the person’s disability does not matter. No one sticks out like a sore thumb like they might if they worked somewhere else.at GET he is known for his many talents - NOT his disabilities.

Shea’s talents go beyond the GET Cafe. He wrote two book: The Dogs of Narberth and The Rescue Pups. To order those books, email him at dilpshea@gmail.com

He is also a 2009 graduate of the University of the Arts.

The GET Cafe Family are not the only individuals who know about Shea; the Philadelphia Region does, too. Channel 17 in Philadelphia recently interviewed him. You can access it by logging onto https://phl17.com/phl17-news/celebrating-disability-employment-awareness-month-with-get-cafe-in-narberth/
