Public Input Sought For County Line Road Corridor Report

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – Lower Merion Township is inviting residents to attend a meeting that will examine the results of a draft traffic study regarding the County Line Road corridor later this month.

The township is hosting the meeting at 7 p.m. on Jan. 29 at the Ludington Library in Bryn Mawr. A consultant will give a presentation reviewing the study’s recommendations and seek public input for the final report.

The draft report — which was done in partnership with Radnor Township — recommends improvements to the corridor itself and intersections along the route, including a new signal at Roberts Road. Those include better speed limit signs, suggestions for safer parking and pedestrian equipment, a partial road diet, more effective roadway striping, bicycle lanes, upgraded ADA compliance, possible speed reductions, traffic signal improvements, changes to commercial driveways, and more.

"This jointly funded traffic study is needed so that safety improvements can be implemented along this busy corridor in Bryn Mawr," said Lower Merion Township Commissioner Scott Zelov. "It’s important that we get the details right, and for that we need the public’s input."

The analysis studies the 0.8-mile corridor from the intersection of County Line Road and Lancaster Avenue in Rosemont to the intersection where County Line Road becomes Haverford Road at Landover Road in Bryn Mawr. Intersections studied include where County Line Road crosses with Arthur, Roberts, Haverford, Landover and Conestoga roads, and S. Warner, Thomas, Glenbrook and Old Lancaster avenues.

Lower Merion Township management, in consultation with the Board of Commissioners, has already offered some edits to be incorporated into the final report, plus there may be additional revisions because of public comment at this January 29th meeting.

The final report will be considered by the Board of Commissioners at both townships for possible inclusion in future capital budgets. Additionally, any improvements selected will need to be presented to PennDOT and other relevant agencies for approval prior to implementation.
