Rosemont's theVillage Works With Local Farm To Support Trauma Victims

The Rosemont nonprofit is partnering with a farm grow fresh produce and support victims of trauma.

Rosemont's theVillage has announced a partnership with Urban Roots Farm to both grow fresh produce and provide educational opportunities to children and families impacted by trauma, according to press release issued Wednesday.

Urban Roots Farm at theVillage celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 17.

The 3-acre farm produces an array of all-natural herbs and vegetables grown at the Rosemont Campus of theVillage, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vital services to children and families impacted by trauma in the Greater Philadelphia region, the organization said.

Through this partnership, responsibly and locally grown produce from the farm is donated to theVillage to provide healthy and fresh meals to teenage and adolescent girls in its residential treatment programs, as well as families obtaining services at theVillage’s Southwest Philadelphia location, according to the release.

Urban Roots Farm at theVillage also provides educational opportunities for children in theVillage’s programs and the local community to visit a working farm and enhance their learning about science, math and nutrition.

Produce from the farm is available to the public for purchase at theVillage’s Rosemont Campus on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the growing season. It will also be available at the Bryn Mawr Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
