Montco's State Rep. Madeleine Dean To Run For Lieutenant Governor
Montgomery County's State Rep. Madeleine Dean has announced her intention to run for Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania.

ABINGTON, PA — State Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Montgomery), an Abington resident, has officially announced her intention to run for Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania in 2018.
Speculation has been rampant for weeks that Dean, 58, would enter the already crowded race to challenge incumbent Lt. Governor Mike Stack, a Democrat who has notoriously not gotten along with Gov. Tom Wolf.
Dean, a former professor of English at La Salle University and Philadelphia lawyer, served as Abington Township's Ward 7 Commissioner before being elected to the legislature. She has represented the 153rd district since 2012.

Dean joins Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone in the race to replace Stack, along with Lancaster County Commissioner Craig Lehman and western Pennsylvania hopefuls John Fetterman, a mayor, and Aryanna Berringer, a party activist.
Much of the controversy surrounding Stack stems from an alleged incident where he lambasted his security detail and other state employees at his residence.

While the governor and lieutenant governor run together as a ticket in the general election, they each conduct their own primaries. It's in the primary that Dean will face off with Cozzone, Lehman, Fetterman, and Berringer.
One of Dean's most recent actions in the legislature was to introduce a bill banning bump stocks.
