Threats Toward Lower Merion School Posted Online

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Lower Merion Township Police said they have investigated threats on a social media messaging service after being alerted to the messages by the Lower Merion School District.

According to police, they learned of threats posted on Discord Monday.

"The threats came to the attention of some Black Rock Middle School parents this past weekend, who then notified the school," police said.

The Lower Merion School District then notified police of the threats, which led police to investigate the messages.

Ultimately, police said there is no concern for student or staff safety in the district.

"As the safety of the children and everyone at the school is our highest priority, any information that would change that assessment will be shared with all concerned," police said.

According to Lower Merion Police, the people directly involved in this incident have or are being contacted by investigators.

Police will have an increased presence at the middle school all week after the threats.
