Vehicles Targeted By Thieves On Main Line: Police

Lower Merion Township Police reported a stolen vehicle, vehicle break-ins, and vehicle theft attempts on July 17 alone.

WYNNEWOOD-MERION STATION, PA — Police in Lower Merion Township reported a rash of vehicle-focused crimes that occurred last week in Wynnewood and Merion Station.

These incidents all occurred July 17, police said.

First was an attempted vehicle theft in Wynnewood.

Police said the victim woke up early that day to a loud sound outside.

They saw multiple people inside and around their vehicle, which was parked in the apartment complex lot.

When confronted, the suspects ran from the area.

Police said the passenger side window was broken out and there was damage to the ignition, as though the suspects were trying to start the vehicle.

Then, while searching the area after the above incident, police said officers found people breaking into another vehicle in Wynnewood.

They drove off in the vehicle before abandoning it on a road and running off.

Police also said a person in Wynnewood woke up that morning to find the passenger side window of their vehicle was broken and the ignition was damaged.

The vehicle was parked along the road outside the victim's apartment complex.

And, police said an unlocked Jeep in Wynnewood and an unlocked Lexus were rummaged through overnight July 17.
