Villanova Parade: What To Know If You Go

Villanova's victory parade will hit the streets of center city Philadelphia on Friday afternoon.

Time: 1 p.m.

Location: 20th and Market Street, and progressing .4 miles to Dilworth Plaza

Transportation: SEPTA will be operating on a special schedule during the duration of the parade. The Norristown High Speed Line, Market-Frankford Line, and the Broad Street Line will all be operating at increased capacity. The Paoli/Thorndale line will leave every 30 minutes from Radnor, Villanova, and Rosemont. For more information on the SEPTA schedule, see here.

Road closures: Market Street will be closed from 15th to 23rd Streets, while 15th Street will be closed from JFK Boulevard to Chestnut Street.

Parking: Parking is prohibited along the parade road. Prohibited areas will be clearly signed, the city said. Parking garages will be open around the city.

Spectators can call individual facilities ahead for parking options, prices and availability, or visit the Philadelphia Parking Authority website

Detours: Vehicular traffic in the vicinity of City Hall will be diverted as follows:

  • Vehicles traveling north on Broad Street will be required to go eastbound on Chestnut, prior to reaching City Hall.
  • Vehicles traveling west on (East) Market Street around City Hall will be diverted to North Board Street or to JFK Boulevard.
  • Vehicles traveling south on Broad Street towards City Hall will be diverted to JFK Boulevard.
  • Vehicles traveling on I-676 should avoid the 15th Street/Broad Street exits. Although these ramps will be open, there will be significant congestion at these exits ramps.

After the march of the parade is concluded, Villanova will hold a rally at Dilworth Plaza. University President Rev. Peter Donohue, head coach Jay Wright, and members of the men’s basketball team are all scheduled to address the crowd at Dilworth Park.

The parade is expected to take about an hour, and the program afterwords about another hour.
