The Wedding Singer is based on the popular 1998 comedic film of the same name in

which Adam Sandler starred as Robbie Hart, a loveable wedding singer who struggles to

move on in his life after being left at the alter by his fiancé. He is befriended by Julia, a

sweet waitress who loves love and cannot wait to be married someday. Robbie and Julia

must deal with their romantic connection in the face of competing romantic interests, and

they are helped along the way by a quirky and fun group of friends that include Robbie’s

eccentric bandmates and his rapping Grandma Rosie.

The Broadway production opened April 27, 2006 and has enjoyed two national tours. It

was nominated for five Tony Awards and eight Drama Desk Awards. The music is by

Matthew Sklar, lyrics are by Chad Beguelin, and the book is by Beguelin and Tim

Herlihy.

The cast of Narberth Community Theatre’s The Wedding Singer is led by Ben Long

(Robbie) with Alison Kachnoskie (Julia), Chris Batholomew (George), Vince Vuono

(Sammy), Meghan Chambers (Holly), Rob Frankel (Glen), and Renee Grant (Grandma

Rosie).

Narberth Community Theatre (NCT) has been entertaining the Philadelphia and Mainline

communities for well over 50 years. Please come out and support this gem of a local

NCT’s 2015-2016 season will continue in the spring with Neil Simon’s Brighton

Beach Memoirs, while the 2016-2017 season will bring The Who’s Tommy, Once

Upon a Mattress, and Don’t Dress for Dinner to the NCT stage.
