
PHILADELPHIA, PA- John Bogle, founder and retired CEO of The Vanguard Group, spoke to nearly two hundred executives of the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group (GPSEG) on Monday, June 3, 2013. He was the featured speaker at GPSEG’s Regional Business Outlook event held at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia.
Known as one of the investment industry’s “Giants of the 20th Century”, Bogle shared his insights on market trends, how investing has changed in the last 60 years and the changes in the mutual fund industry. In a speech entitled “How Wall Street failed Main Street”, Bogle chronicled the mutual fund industry and the massive shift in the culture of the financial sector.
“John Bogle gave our audience great information on investing and shared his wisdom from six decades as a leader in the global financial industry, ” said Rip Tilden, Chairman of GPSEG’s Board of Directors. “We had a rare opportunity to hear from a pioneer whose perspective on investment strategy and leadership was valuable for our members who are entrepreneurs and business leaders themselves.”

Upon graduation from Princeton, Bogle went to work for Wellington Management, a firm he eventually ran as its senior executive. In 1974, he founded The Vanguard Group, which he led until 1996. He currently serves as President of the Bogle Financial Markets Research Center.
As part of the event, Bogle signed copies of his latest book The Clash of the Cultures which outlines 10 simple rules that help investors meet their financial goals.
