Bala Cynwyd Middle School Gets New Principal

BALA CYNWYD, PA — The Lower Merion School District Monday approved a new principal for Bala Cynwyd Middle School as its principal moves on to the new middle school.

The district's board approved Amy Jenkins as the new principal.

She will take over the role from Sarah Stout, who was named principal for the new middle school earlier this summer. Stout was principal at Bala Cynwyd Middle School since 2019.

According to the district, Jenkins served as an Assistant Principal and Supervisor of Online Learning for the Unionville Chadds-Ford School District since 2015.

Before joining Unionville Chadds-Ford, she was an Assistant Principal and Dean of Academics and Academic Development in the Penn Delco School District, where she had also served as an Instructional Technology Coach and where she began her educational career as a 6th grade Language Arts teacher.

Jenkins received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from West Chester University, her Master of Education degree from Penn State, her Administrative Certification from Cabrini College and her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from West Chester, the district said.

"I am excited to join Lower Merion School District and the Bala Cynwyd Middle School family," Jenkins said in an announcement from the district. "I look forward to continuing the work Ms. Stout and her administrative team have started. I can't wait to meet everyone in person!"

Jenkins and her husband, Joe, have two children.

"I am confident that Dr. Jenkins, along with Assistant Principals Jeffrey Hunter and Christine Fleming-Hirshka, will provide excellent leadership to the BCMS community, not only for this year, but for the years ahead, as we transition fifth graders into middle school and re-envision our middle school curriculum and physical spaces to reflect the loftiest goals of our Strategic Plan, All Forward," District Superintendent Robert Copeland said
