Bala Cynwyd Pizza Joint Among Best Newcomers, Inquirer Says

BALA CYNWYD, PA — Pizza, despite being an Italian food, is about as American as apple pie. And a new list from the Philadelphia Inquirer documents the best new spots for slices and pies in the Philadelphia region.

Writer Michael Klein published the list in late December and featured a few Main Line spots on the list.

Among them is Classic Pizza in Bala Cynwyd.

Classic Pizza is located at 137 Montgomery Ave. and is open Tuesday through Sunday, with varying hours for delivery and pickup.

"Staten Island-born pizzaiolo Paul Brancale has taken over the Bala Cynwyd location of EVO Pizza for a slice shop built around old-school New York styles, including thick, soft Sicilians; crispy-crusted, rectangular grandmas; and 18-inch round pies that are thin and crispy, in the Joe & Pat’s/Rubirosa tradition," Klein wrote.

Classic Pizza has 5 full stars on Google based on 12 reviews.

"Fantastic NY Style crust, flavorful sauce and good balance," one person said. "Great new place!"

"Something fantastic is happening here," another user wrote. "I ordered via phone, everything ready 25 minutes later. Great look, great taste, great bite. We ordered a cheese pizza and the grandma pizza. Both huge hits with the adults and the kids in the room. Thanks Paul!"

"Amazing pizza with super fresh ingredients and excellent service," someone else said. "This is on my list of top 5 pizza's I've ever had. The owner, Paul, truly knows what he's doing."
