Bike Share Program Eyed In Lower Merion Township
Lower Merion officials will consider applying for grant funding to establish a bike share program in the township.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Residents and visitors to the City Avenue District in Lower Merion Township may have a new way to get around in the near future.
The Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners this week will hold a vote related to establishing a bike share program in the City Avenue Special Services District.
At their meeting Wednesday, the board will consider applying for a Montco 2040 Program grant that would secure funding for an Indego bike share system in the district.

$150,000 in funding is sought for in grant funds.
According to Wednesday's meeting agenda, the township and district would put $31,000 towards the project, half of which has been committed by the district.

That $31,000 is the minimum 20 percent match for the grant funding sought.
The program would be launched in conjunction with the township and the district.
A bike share program would "enhance multimodal connectivity, promote bicycle use, and reduce single occupancy vehicle trips," the agenda reads.
Community members are invited to weigh in on the topic at Wednesday's meeting.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the second flood boardroom of the township administration building, 75 E. Lancaster Ave. in Ardmore.
In-person and virtual attendance is available for the meeting.

Comments submitted in writing will be distributed to the board in their entirety and summarized verbally during the meeting.
