Burglary, Cartons of Cigarettes Stolen Among Police Incidents

Theft

On April 16, it was reported that on April 8 at about 10:30 a.m. a Lower Merion High School student put his cell phone and computer in his backpack, which he put in a locker room before his gym class. At about 11:30 a.m. he noticed that the phone and school-issued laptop were gone.

DUI

A 21-year-old Philadelphia woman was charged with DUI after being pulled over at the Taco Bell on City Avenue on April 17 around 11:45 p.m. A 25-year-old man from Philadelphia with her was cited for public intoxication. The woman admitted to drinking a small amount of Southern Comfort, police said. She failed field sobriety tests and had a BAC of .187 percent.

Theft From Car

Sometime between 5 p.m. on April 17 and the following morning, someone stole a bag of clothes meant for Good Will out of a car parked in the 100 block of School Street in Bala Cynwyd. At about 1 a.m., a “suspicious” car was seen in the area; police had been called.

Fraud

A resident of West Princeton Road in Bala Cynwyd reported to police that someone attempted to withdraw money from his 401K after gaining access to his email account.

Burglary

A home on West Dartmouth Road in Bala Cynwyd was broken into on April 18 between 9:15 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. Jewelry was found to be missing.

Retail Theft

Someone stole three cartons of Newport brand cigarettes from the Wawa in Belmont Hills on April 18. The man is described as being in his 40s under 6 feet in height, wearing an orange long sleeve T-shirt with the words Calvary Basketball, with tan pants and a tattoo on his neck. He fled in a dark green Ford Ranger.
