Drunken Man Cited After Sleeping In Car, Police Say

Public drunkenness seems to be the theme of the St. Patrick's Day weekend police blotter.

Lower Merion Police Department reported the following incidents to news media at a Monday briefing. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Public Drunkenness: A 32-year-old man from Huntington Valley was cited for public drunkenness after police found him asleep in his car at the Wawa on Belmont Avenue March 15 around 1:20 a.m. Police reported that once he was awoken, the man exhibited signs of drunkenness.

Public Drunkenness: A 56-year-old man from Philadelphia was cited for public drunkenness on March 16 at Wendy’s on City Avenue after an employee reported a drunk patron. Police confirmed his behavior and odor with someone under the influence of alcohol.
