Great Gardens of the Philadelphia Region

This event will begin with a walking tour of historic West Laurel Hill Cemetery and will continue with a lecture and book signing of "A Guide to the Great Gardens of the Philadelphia Region" at Bringhurst Funeral Home on the grounds of the Cemetery.

Whether due to climate, Quaker heritage, or manufacturing wealth, this region is considered by historians to be the epicenter of the national development of ornamental horticulture.

Within this historical perspective, award-winning garden writer Adam Levine and photographer Rob Cardillo created a comprehensive full-color guide to area gardens. Adam will present an illustrated lecture on these great gardens including Gladwyne's Henry Foundation for Botanical Research, Chanticleer, Henry duPont's garden at Winterthur, Fairmount Park's Shofuso and the arboretum at West Laurel Hill, among others. The author will be available to sign his book which will be for sale at the event.

Refreshments will be served. Tickets are $20 for Lower Merion Conservancy members and $25 for non-members.
