Philadelphia Folksong Society Concerts

The Woman's Club of Bala Cynwyd has partnered with the Philadelphia Folksong Society (PFS) to bring some of folk music’s top acts to the Main Line in early 2012.


The shows are part of the PFS Water the Roots Series, which features nine months of nine different
styles of music, from blues to Cajun to Klezmer. Concerts are free for PFS members.

Jan. 8, 2012 – Elaine Hoffman Watts and the Fabulous Shpielkes. This mother/daughter duo is one of
the finest Klezmer music acts in the country, having won the National Endowment for the Arts
prestigious Heritage Fellowship Award. $10 for non‐members.


Feb. 12, 2012 – Alexis P. Suter. Known as a vocal phenomenon, her most recent recording explores
blues, soul and other roots music. She delivered a powerhouse set at last year’s Philadelphia Folk
Festival. $15 for non‐members.

May 13, 2012 – Rafe Stefanini. One of the foremost interpreters of fiddle music from the South, his
dynamic and elegant fiddle and banjo playing has been featured with some of the best old‐time music
acts. $10 for non‐members.
