Harriton Lacrosse Plays For Charity
The boys' and girls' teams competed in the Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival.
Harriton High School's boys' and girls' lacrosse teams were among the 54 squads that competed in the 11th annual Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival held from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Saturday at Radnor High School.
A total of 27 games played out on seven different fields. Besides the lacrosse action, there were amusements for children and lots of vendors selling food and all types of lacrosse gear. Teams from the Magee Rehabilitation Center played wheelchair rugby and basketball demonstrating that a disability can be overcome.
The first of the 11 annual events was held to raise funds to pay the medical costs of Katie Samson, a Radnor High School lacrosse player who suffered a spinal injury in an accident 12 years ago. Since its beginning, the festival has raised more than $1 million for spinal injury research. Katie is as assistant coach of the Radnor High School girls' team.
