LMSD Hosting Flu Clinic For Narberth Kids Oct. 23

NARBERTH, PA – As flu season creeps up on us, the Montgomery County Health Department wants parents and guardians in the Narberth Borough area to ensure their students have a chance to get vaccinated.

The Lower Merion School district is hosting a community flu clinic later this month, and students in public – as well as private – schools can get flu shots.

The clinic will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 23 in the Lower Merion High School Health Suite.

The clinic is fully covered by all insurance companies, the district said. If your child is not covered or is under insured, the vaccine will be paid for through a federally-funded program.

Students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade who reside in Narberth Borough and Lower Merion Township are permitted to use the clinic, the district said.

Registration is required and the deadline is noon on Monday, Oct. 16. Register online here.

The shots are administered by Detweiler Family Medicine Associates.

The goal of the program is to minimize school absenteeism and protect the community from the flu, as it is a very serious illness that strikes even healthy children. Health authorities recommend that all people 6 months of age and older receive an flu vaccine every year.

The clinic will only feature intramuscular vaccines. The FluMist vaccine is not available this season.
