Low Bids Amount to $4.4 Million For Bala Cynwyd Library Renovation

The contracts could be awarded Nov. 9.

has received low bids for the planned renovation that would add up to a project cost of just more than $4.4 million, significantly lower than the previously estimated cost of $5.2 million, officials announced in a statement to media Monday.

The bids were opened Thursday, and contracts could be awarded at the Board of Commissioners' Finance Committee meeting Nov. 9, allowing construction to start in early 2012. The prospective winners are:

General contracting Perrotto Builders Limited Reading, PA $2,424,800 Plumbing Dual Temp Allentown, PA $162,500 Mechanical Myco Mechanical Telford, PA $878,000 Fire suppression Affordable Fire Protection Linwood, NJ $743,800 Electrical Electri Tech Dorothy, NJ $192,000

The Perrotto bid includes an alternate proposal for asbestos removal, and with a separately bid contract for a stairway at the adjacent  (estimated to cost about $60,000), the construction fees would amount to about $4,461,100, according to the township.
