Lower Merion High School junior Sydney Yermish recently delivered a dominant performance en route to capturing the girls Central Athletic League (CAL) Golf Championship held at Turtle Creek Golf Club in Limerick, PA. Battling some challenging winds throughout the day, Yermish still managed to record a one-over par tally of 73, made even more impressive by the fact that she finished 15 strokes ahead of her closest competitor.

With the win, Yermish punched her ticket to the PIAA District One Golf Championships, a title she won as a ninth grader two years ago at the same Turtle Creek Golf Club. In the opening round of that tournament, the then freshmen put on a show - and put her name on the map - shooting a remarkable six-under par score of 65. For context, Yermish's score of 65 two years ago was seven strokes better than this year's boys Central League champion, who is a junior. Unfortunately for Yermish, the opportunity to defend her District One crown last season was dashed by concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. Congratulations to Sydney and best of luck the rest of the season!
