Lower Merion High School senior Laila Newborn, a middle blocker for the varsity volleyball team, has been named the Main Line Girls Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Aces to a hot start with an unblemished 4-0 record. Newborn holds the school record for blocks in a season and has an impressive hitting percentage of .667. In her junior and sophomore seasons, Newborn earned second team All-Main Line and second team All-Central League honors, respectively.
