- Environmental Advisory Council:The Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) is composed of 9 residents of the Township who serve 4-year terms of office. The EAC provides advice to the Board of Commissioners and Planning Commission for the promotion and conservation of natural resources and for the protection and improvement of the quality of the environment within the Township. Applicants with background or experience in environmental or sustainability planning/consulting, landscape design/architecture, or solid waste management/disposal/recycling; or with an acquired knowledge and familiarity in related fields is preferred. The EAC typically meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.More information about the EAC can be found here in the Township Code: Chapter 13:Environmental Advisory Council.
- Human Relations Commission (alternate):The Human Relations Commission (HRC) is composed of 7 members and 2 alternates. The HRC typically meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of every other month. An HRC alternate may participate in any proceeding or discussion of the HRC but shall not be entitled to vote as a regular member of the HRC unless seated. The purpose of the HRC is to ensure that all persons, regardless of race, color, religious creed, ancestry, age, sex, national origin, physical or mental disability, use of guide or support animals because of the blindness, deafness or physical or mental disability of the user or because the user is a handler or trainer of support or guide animals, or because of a person's sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression enjoy the full benefits of citizenship and are afforded equal opportunities for employment, housing, commercial property, and the use of public accommodations, in Lower Merion Township. Experience in equal opportunity laws, investigation of complaints, dispute resolution including mediation, or as a human relations professional is preferred. - Planning Commission: The Planning Commission (PC) is composed of 7 members who serve 4-year terms of office. The PC typically meets on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The PC reviews all subdivision and land development plans and submits recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. Experience in planning, civil engineering, urban design, transportation planning or landscape architecture is preferred. A full description of the PC’s duties can be found here in the Township Code: Chapter 34, Article II: Planning Commission.
