A Matter of Balance at New Horizons
New Horizons Senior Center hosts an 8-week course offered by Main Line Health on practical strategies to manage falls

Are you worried about falling? Do you avoid participating in programs because you fear losing your balance at the worst possible time? Have you started seeing various rooms in your house as death traps just waiting to be sprung? You’re not alone. Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their favorite activities as a result. But the fear of falling does not have to become overwhelming. There are simple tricks and routines that can help to improve one’s balance and decrease the risk of falls in your everyday activities. Beginning in February, Main Line Health will hold a FREE fall prevention workshop at New Horizons for anyone who wishes to attend.
Open to anyone 60 years and older, “A Matter of Balance” is an award-winning 8-week program devoted to teaching how to manage falls and increase activities. Join us to learn simple exercise techniques designed to increase strength and balance, learn what needs to be done to make your home safe again, and receive tips on how to start to view fall risk as controllable rather than terrifying. Free fall prevention items are available to every participant and an optional lunch is offered at Noon each Tuesday before the workshop.
