Mary Glendening will depart June 23, borough officials said Monday night.

director Mary Glendening has submitted her resignation, borough council president Sam Quinn announced at Monday's meeting.

The head librarian will finish work June 23 after four years on the job, she said in an email to Patch: "I have truly enjoyed working with the Board and community of Narberth.  I’m really going to miss everyone but am excited for this new opportunity."

The Main Line Times reported Glendening will become the director of the Middletown library in Delaware County.

The impending vacancy has been posted in several relevant job forums, as well as on the library's website. Resumes have begun arriving, but an interim head librarian will be needed because the library board will likely not have someone new in place by the time Glendening leaves, Quinn said.

"We want to thank Mary for her service and wish her good luck," said the council president.
