PA Performance Profile Scores: LMSD High Schools
Did Lower Merion's high schools improve, worsen, or stay the same in 2016-2017? See the PA Department of Education's assessment scores here.

The state released its School Performance Profile scores from 2016-2017 recently, and Lower Merion School District's high schools have cause to be excited and a bit disappointed.
According to the SPP data provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Harriton High School's score dropped while Lower Merion High School's score increased. Both changed slightly, however.
Despite Harriton's score being lower than last 2015-2016's 94.7, the 2016-2017 overall academic score is still in the top bracket with a 93.9. Lower Merion HS's score increased, albeit just a few points, from 82.7 in 2015-2016 to 87.2 in 2016-2017.

Harriton's scores in math, English language arts, and science and biology came in at 81.03, 92.61, and 83.75, respectively. Lower Merion's scores in those same categories were 81.07, 90.17, and 90.75.
While Harriton saw an increase in its graduation rate, going from 96.09 in 2015-2016 t0 96.67 in 2016-2017, Lower Merion's rate Lower Merion went down, from 98.65 in 2015-2016 t0 97.26 in 2016-2017.

The assessment, done each year, gives each school a score of up to 100 using several factors, including test scores, student improvement from the past year, as well as graduation rates.
Officials say the School Performance Profile is just one indicator of how schools are supporting student learning.
