Philly Pair Kidnapped Woman In Bala Cynwyd Tuesday: Police

Police were able to stop the pair and rescue the woman after she was taken from her home Tuesday afternoon in Bala Cynwyd.

BALA CYNWYD, PA — A man and woman from Philadelphia were arrested Tuesday after police said they kidnapped a woman in Bala Cynwyd and tried to get away with her the back of a vehicle.

Lower Merion Police said Eric Raymond Drake, 31, and Cheryl Anne Litty, 47, both of Philadelphia, have been charged with felony kidnapping, felony conspiracy to commit kidnapping, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment in connection the Tuesday afternoon incident. Drake was also charged with simple assault, harassment, and recklessly endangering another person.

Drake and Litty were remanded to the county jail after failing to post $99,000 and 10 percent of $75,000 bail, respectively, police said.

The pair were arrested after police were called to the area around LA Fitness in Bala Cynwyd at about 12:38 p.m. Tuesday, July 16.

Police said a woman was taken from her home against her will then put in the backseat of a waiting vehicle. The vehicle drove off, police said.

However, police quickly stopped the vehicle and arrested Litty and Drake. The victim was unharmed, police said.

Drake and Litty are slated for July 24 preliminary hearings, court records show.
