Baldwin Woman Indicted For Alleged Prescription Fraud

She allegedly posed as a doctors' employee to obtain the drug, the indictment alleges.

BALDWIN, PA - A Baldwin woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of fraudulently obtaining controlled substances and health care fraud.

Heather Summerfield, 37, of Gerry Drive allegedly obtained Tramadol, a highly addictive drug similar to morphine, by posing as a representative of physicians’ offices to obtain the prescriptions. She received the prescriptions in her own name and in the names of fictitious individuals without the authorization of the physicians, the indictment alleges.

The health care fraud allegedly occurred when insurance companies paid for the prescriptions.
