Schools

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is a week dedicated to drug and alcohol awareness. Throughout the course of the week, the school will have several themes and different ideas pertaining to drugs and alcohol. Here is the week's tentative theme schedule:

  • Oct. 24: Lollipops will be distributed to the students as they enter the building to kickoff Red Ribbon Week. A video on the life of DEA Special Agent Enrique KiKi Camarena will be shown at the beginning of first period. The video is 14 minutes in length. After the video, there will be a brief discussion on the video with the students. Another video featuring staff members from BHS sharing personal stories on how their lives were affected by drug/alcohol related accidents will be shown to end the period. There will be a reversed assembly day schedule for Monday.
  • Oct. 25: Twin Day/Pair Up Against Drugs: Students will dress like someone else!
  • Oct. 26: Crazy Sock Day: Students will wear crazy socks to "sock it to drugs!"
  • Oct. 27: Red Day: Students will wear as much red as possible to celebrate the life of Special Agent Enrique Camarena. Any seniors wearing red will be asked to report to the football field at the beginning of 8th period to get a group picture.
  • Oct. 28: Team Day: Team up Against Drugs: Students will wear their favorite team sports apparel.
  • Oct. 31: Scare Away Drugs! Dress up in a Halloween costume.
