South Hills Trader Joe's to Open Nov. 4

Grand opening celebrations and a ceremonial lei cutting will begin at 8 a.m.

Trader Joe's, a unique, neighborhood grocery store with foods and beverages from the exotic to the basic, will celebrate the grand opening of a new store in Pittsburgh's South Hills area (Upper St. Clair Township, specifically) on Friday, Nov. 4, at 8 a.m.

To mark the official opening, Trader Joe's Captain (store manager) Jennifer Sourbeck, Regional Vice President Rich Millis and the store's crew will gather for a ceremonial lei cutting to welcome new customers "Trader Joe's style." The celebration will continue throughout the day with live music, food demonstrations and stickers for children.

—next to the Chick-fil-A and where a former Pier 1 Imports store was located. The store is approximately 12,000-square-feet large. Inside will feature a festive décor mixing traditional Trader Joe's cedar-covered walls and Hawaiian-inspired elements combined with a local flare including art that celebrates the particular region. Throughout the grocery store there are several amazing hand-painted murals that pay homage to the Liberty Tunnels, the Fort Pitt Bridge, Kennywood, Oliver Miller Homestead, Pittsburgh's three rivers and more.

The store's hours will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. No alcohol will be sold there.

The Upper St. Clair Board of Commissioners . This will be Trader Joe's second store in the Pittsburgh area. The other store is located in East Liberty.
