Teen Pleads Guilty In Baldwin Slaying

A drug deal gone awry led to the fatal shooting, police said.

BALDWIN, PA - A teenager faces up to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to third-degree murder Tuesday in the shooting death of a teen in Baldwin last year.

Nathan James Lee, 17, will be sentenced in February by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Anthony Mariani, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. He pleaded guilty to shooting Nathan Assad, 17, of Baldwin Township, in August 2017 as he sat in a car.

According to police, Assad had agreed to sell Lee a half-ounce of marijuana and went to a Lucy Drive home to make the sale. Lee stole the drugs and a gold chain from Assad and fled in a vehicle. Assad and another person followed them to the intersection of McAnulty and Horning roads, where Lee fired the shot that killed Assad.
